Classes

All MWGJ classes are designed to encourage and inspire women to express themselves confidently through social and performance jazz dances such as; lindy hop, charleston, black bottom, blues, and/or through the joyous sounds of jazz music.

Classes are for all ages, all levels, and all experiences. See below for class descriptions.

Music class info:

Intro to Jazz Piano (Sat. Dec 9th 10-11am): This class is for ladies with little to no previous musical experience. Beginners to playing music strongly encouraged to sign up! If you have ever had a desire to play jazz this is the absolute perfect way to start. w/Cheri Sykes (Cheri is a fan of Fats Waller!) (BEGINNERS)

The Girl Jam Jazz Session (Sat. Dec 9th 11-12pm): An all-girl jazz and blues jam session! How awesome is that?! Bring your instrument, voice or your feet, bring patience, bring an eagerness to play as a group, but most importantly, bring a desire to have fun! w/Cheri Sykes (ALL LEVELS)

Singin' Jazz and Blues (Sun. Dec 10th 11-12pm): All you need is yourself for this class. Fellow swing dancer and jazz vocalist Nicole, lets you in on tricks to singing from your soul. w/Nicole Frydman (ALL LEVELS: Anyone who loves to sing!)

Dance class info:

Saturday Classes (Sat. Dec 9th 1-7pm): These classes are non-partnered, street and performance dances such as charleston, black bottom, blues, and jazz routines. No partner needed. No boys allowed.

Sunday Classes (Sat. Dec 10th 1-6pm): These are lindy hop classes focused on the ladies. Guys, take these classes for free! We need your leading skills! The classes will focus on the ladies but there will be plenty of insightful tips for the guys.

Volunteer Leaders: Take the lindy hop classes on Sunday for free! Solid lindy hop foundations are needed for the classes to be successful so please, intermediate and advanced lindy hop leaders only. Send an email through the contact page if you are interested in attending these classes for free.

Discounted Dance Tickets for Guys: Leaders who sign up to volunteer in Sunday's lindy hop classes can purchase a discounted Saturday evening swing dance ticket for only $15 in advance. Send an email through the contact form to inquire.

FAQ

Can I switch classes if the level I'm in is too hard or easy? Yes.

Can guys come to the classes on Saturday? Nope. Sorry guys, ladies only.

I can't make the whole weekend, can I sign up for one day only? Yes. Email us through our contact page and ask about one day passes.
